Lady Outlaw and Giveaway with Author, Stacy Henrie!

Welcome everyone! Today I'm interviewing the lovely, Stacy Henrie. Doesn't she have the sweetest smile? I recently read Stacy's debut novel from Harlequin's Love Inspired, titled, Lady Outlaw, and I loved it. I thought it would be great to have Stacy visit. In a nutshell, she is a stay-at-home mom to three kids and an author of inspirational historical romance. She loves laughing with her family, reading, interior decorating, and chocolate.
She's represented by Jessica Alvarez of BookEnds, LLC.

Author, Stacy Henrie

THE GIVEAWAY - Stacy has generously offered to give away a copy of Lady Outlaw, and I'm throwing in a Starbucks gift card to one lucky winner. To be entered in the drawing, all you have to do is answer Stacy's question at the end of the interview, or for those who have trouble commenting on Blogger, leave your answer on my Facebook Author Page. The winner of Stacy's book and the gift card will be drawn at random next Sunday, November 25, 2012, at 9pm CDT, and announced on next week’s blog post. Check out the beautiful cover of Lady Outlaw!

No one would ever imagine a fresh-faced young woman could be robbing stage bandits of their ill-gotten fortunes. But Jennie Jones is desperate to save her family's ranch from foreclosure. And the risks seem worth it, until her upright new ranch hand offers a glimpse of how much is really at stake.
Former bounty hunter Caleb Johnson is ready for a new, clean start. With a woman like Jennie, he could build a future there in Utah territory. But only if his gentle faith can guide her in a choice between the land she's fought so hard to save and a future by his side.

Welcome Stacy! So glad to have you here!

Thanks for having me, Loree! I’ve enjoyed following your blog for quite some time, so I’m excited to be here.

Your lovely debut novel from Harlequin’s Love Inspired is titled, Lady Outlaw. How long have you been writing novels, Stacy? Is this your first?

I’ve been writing for eight years – ever since becoming a mom. Lady Outlaw is the second book I wrote. It was meant to be a companion to the first novel I wrote until the story took on a life of its own. J

The book is a work of historical fiction. What inspired you to choose the Utah Territory as the setting for this novel?

I was excited to set this story in my home state. At the time of the story, Utah Territory had regular stagecoach travel between a number of its towns, but there were still portions of uninhabited land—both were characteristics I wanted for that Old West feel. I also liked the chance to set it in a place that years later would be made legendary by notorious outlaws like Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch.

Fascinating history! They say that there is a bit of each of us in all of our characters. Which character in the book is most like you, and why?

Jennie Jones, the heroine of Lady Outlaw, and I are alike in many ways. We’re both redheads; we both have a strong stubborn streak and like to do things our own way; we’re both quiet and a little shy until you get to know us and then we love to tease.

I loved Jennie! She had so much depth to her character. Is there a sequel or series planned?

I have a WWI inspirational romance series that will be published by Grand Central Publishing in 2014. The first book is about a schoolteacher and a German-American handyman who fall in love even as anti-German hysteria divides the population of their small Iowa town. I’m currently writing the second book, which is about a nurse and a wounded soldier who meet in a hospital in war-torn France. And the third book will be set in England after the war.

I know I'm going to just love this new series, Stacy!

I know you are a real chocolate lover. What’s your favorite chocolate? Had to sneak that question in there!

I love European chocolate and dark chocolate, although I’m not a real chocolate candy fan. Give me chocolate with substance—like brownies, cookies, cake, pie, etc.—and I’m a happy girl! J

As we come to a close of this interview, I want to ask you—Thanksgiving is on Thursday, what are you most thankful for Stacy?

My husband and kids; temporal things like a house, food, job; the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom and a writer; and most of all, the help of the Lord in my daily life.

It’s been a pleasure having you visit here today. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule.

Thanks again for having me, Loree!

Now Stacy has a question for you—

What are you especially thankful for this Thanksgiving? What are some of your Thanksgiving traditions?

Great questions, Stacy! I'm thankful for my wonderful family. My kids are awesome, and my hubby is the best. I am blessed. Thanksgiving traditions for me: I make my mom's stuffing from scratch - turkey soup and all.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Between you, me and the gatepost,

Thanks for a great interview, ladies. I've heard a lot about this story and find the premise intriguing.

Congratulations on your sales to LIH and to Grand Central, Stacy. I think it's great that GC is welcoming inspirational books into their lineup. I'm eager to see what type of inspy of stories they publish. Yours sound great.

Loree - Thanks for featuring Stacy Henrie on your blog - her book sounds wonderful! I am thankful for family, friends, and faith. One of our Thanksgiving traditions is a cream cheese pumpkin pie - none of us is a big fan of regular pumpkin pie. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Loree! (You too, Stacy!)

I've been wanting to read this book. Looks so fun, Stacie! Congrats again on this and your book deal with Grand Central. :)

Loree, I make my mom's dressing (it's not stuffed in the turkey, so we don't call it stuffing). It's a cornbread dressing recipe, and it isn't Thanksgiving without it!

Sorry about misspelling your name, Stacy. I saw the "ie" on your last name and transferred it to your first. *Mondays*

Keli: Stacy's story is good. After reading her work, I'm also eager for Stacy's WWI series. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Keli!

Victoria: Her book is good. I love the way Stacy tells a story. Your cream cheese pumpkin pie sounds out of this world! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Victoria!

Lindsay: Stacy's characters have layers of depth to them. Great stuff. Isn't it wonderful to have a passed down tradition like "stuffing" or "dressing" that really makes it special feast? Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Lindsay!

BTW,I've done that very same thing with Stacy's name...haha.

Thanks for stopping in everyone!

Loree - Thanks again for the interview and your kind words! That's awesome you make your stuffing from scratch.

Kelli - GC's first inspirational romance just released last month. It's called An Heiress at Heart by Jennifer Delamere and it's fantastic!

Victoria - I'm the only non-pumpkin pie fan in our family - my kids and husband LOVE it, especially for breakfast. :) But cheesecake pumpkin pie sounds delicious!

Lindsay - Cornbread stuffing sounds yummy too! You guys are making me hungry.

No worries about the name. :) Orginially it was "Henry" with an "ry", but my husband's grandpa several generations back changed the spelling to "Henrie" with the "ie" so all his descendants would know they came from him.

Wow, Stacie, what a difference a year makes, eh? :) So thrilled to hear how your career is taking off. I have this wonderful book, so don't enter me. Just wanted to stop by. Enjoyed the video, too. :)

Great interview, Loree! I enjoyed learning about Stacy and her debut novel. Congrats, Stacy! Looking forward to your WWII series as well.

I am thankful for being alive. I had a cancer scare earlier this year that looked very serious. I had to go through recovery while my husband was deployed, but I'm so grateful that God protected us both. This year, we're going to start a tradition of discussing the year's blessings while we eat dinner. Life has its dark moments, but we learned this year that God can deliver.

ha, I like my heroines to have strong stubborn streaks (say that quickly three times hehehe)

Stacy: Just so glad to have you here!

Sandra: You are so right, Stacy's career really has gone full steam in just a year - amazing to watch. I'm so happy for her, and you too! - you've had a big year also! I know you already had Thanksgiving up there in Canada, so I wish you a beautiful day!

Brandi:I knew you had some health issues, but I didn't know it was a cancer scare. So glad you are okay. I love your new tradition. It's always good share them. I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving, Brandi!

Lynda: Ha! I did try to say that 3 times - not easy. I know you don't have Thanksgiving down under, but I'm wishing you and yours a beautiful day!

Great interview, ladies! I would LOVE to win Stacy's book! (And the Starbucks gift card, of course, since it's the season of the peppermint mocha. :))

To answer Stacy's question, I'm especially thankful for God's presence in my life. He's been reminding more and more how much His love and help are available to me each moment for whatever life throws my way, and I'm so grateful for that.

No traditions here, other than pigging out. :)

Happy Thanksgiving, Loree and Stacy!

Sandra - Thank you! It is crazy how things can change so fast. Last year at this time, I was feeling grateful for my writing journey, even though I wasn't published - little did I know everything would change in a few months time! :)

Brandi - What a crazy year! So glad you and your husband are both okay. Love your reminder that God's there with us in those dark moments.

Lynda - LOL! My husband was the one to point out that similarity between me and my heroine. :)

Talli - Thanks for stopping by!

Sarah - I love what you're grateful for this year - I feel very much the same!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Talli: You have a beautiful day across the pond!

Sarah: Beautiful answer to Stacy's question. Enjoy the pigging out!

Talli and Sarah, thanks for popping in!

This sounds like a book that I would love. Congratulations on your first release, Stacy!

Our Thanksgiving traditions are pretty basic. I usually cook the meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and rolls. We gather as a family and enjoy a good time together. It's been extra fun having a granddaughter join our circle.

Besides the obvious like my wonderful husband and children, I am thankful for medicine that relieves a terrible cold. ;)

Tradition: go around the table naming things we are thankful for.

I enjoyed this interview ladies. Your book, as well as the new series, sound like my kind of reading material. WW stories seem to be gaining in popularity.

I'm thankful Mom and I are healthy, and we're blessed with good friends and family.

I think it's wonderful to be thankful for our health. Sometimes we take it for granted. So glad you are blessed with wonderful family and friends, Susan.
