With Valentine's Day just around the corner, this week I thought I would talk about...CHOCOLATE.
Before I do dive in, I wanted to mention that I was honored with the Queen of the Quill Blog Award by Victoria Lindstrom! Victoria is a pre-publishied writer of picture books, middle grade novels, and she's a published poet to boot! Her hubby is a gallery repped oil painter. Together they enjoy the arts as they proceed as partners on the path of life. Ooooh, ROMANTIC!
Do visit her website and blog : http://writofwhimsy.blogspot.com
By the way, Victoria designed the award. Isn't it awesome?
1- The writer has been recognized for the excellence of her "quill" by being agent-represented and/or published.
2- She has reached out and generously encouraged others in blogosphere, while maintaining a quality blog.
3- The integrity of her character is of such a high level that her very life inspires others.
I am humbled! I love this award - a sweet nod and a gift. Thank you, Victoria! I will be passing this award along to 2 other inspiring bloggers next week.
NOW ON WITH THE CHOCOLATE TALK!
In recent years, it has been reported that chocolate, in moderation, is beneficial to our health, especially the heart. They call chocolate the Love Drug. Cocoa is rich in anti-oxident polyphenols. Chocolate contains caffeine, keeping us alert with no fatigue. Chocolate also raises our serotonin, making us feel good.
I'm not an chocolate expert, but I love the stuff. It does make me happy. Hubby and I have started a chocolate experiment. We are eating a piece of good, dark chocolate a day up to Valentine's day. Hey, this is my kind of experiment! I'm going to see if it really does elevate my mood, and if it gives us the enhanced lovey dovey feeling. I'll let you know how it goes...
Do you believe chocolate is beneficial to your health?
Does eating chocolate change your mood? Make you happy?
What's your favorite chocolate?
Below - I found a few quotes on chocolate. Enjoy!

Great quotes! LOL
I love dark chocolate. Right now I eat 2 pieces of a Dove Dark Chocolate bar with my afternoon tea. Yum!
I believe anything positive about chocolate, lol! My favorites are dark chocolate truffles and dark chocolate M&Ms.
Congrats on the award!
You know, any kind of candy or good food seems to elevate my mood. LOL. I'm with Jess...I LOVE dark chocolate. Yum. ;)
You have to know how I love this post! Yes! I eat chocolate--I just had a wee little piece with my afternoon coffee, in fact!
Chocolate does kick-start my "happy homones" and gives me a sense of well-being. I do eat it in moderation though.
And guess what kind of coffee that's ready to be opened now (in my pantry)? Yep. That would be the chocolate truffle blend. LOL!
Now that's the kind of experiment I like. :) Oh, I think Lindt Lindor is the king of chocolates.
I love Belgian dark chocolate, not too sweet and not too bitter. Some chocolates give me an instant headache so I'm always wary of trying something different. On the other hand my favorite chocolate will often stop a migraine. :) My hubby could never stop at one piece a day. Be interested to hear your experiment results. :)
I am a chocolate fiend, but I try to stick to the good stuff (because I can fool myself into thinking there's health benefits). I adore Lindt lindor balls (or the bars). The dark chocolate or white chocolate cream ones are the best... oh my goodness, I better stop thinking about them!
Chocolate definitely gives the endorphins a boost!
Jessica: Oooh, love Dove! So smooth. Loved your post today. Look forward to Wednesday.
Brandi: I'll believe anything positive about chocolate too. M&M's are so addicting, aren't they?
Lindsay: I'm a dark chocolate lover too. Anything dark chocolate!
Cynthia: Chocolate truffle coffee??? I'm coming over! Who makes it?
Melanie: Enjoyed your pictures today! LL truffles are so awesome!
Sandra: I don't eat chocolate everyday so this experiment will be interesting. I'm also documenting the kind we eat. I've been reading about all the different medicinal uses. Amazing.
The best chocolate I ever ate was in Brussels, Belgium. I had some fresh, real Belgium chocolate truffles, that I bought in a chocolate shop. They melted in my mouth...I've never tasted anything like it before or since.
Charlotte: I haven't tasted the white chocolate cream ones. I'm going to have to be adventurous.
Thanks for stopping by! I want more chocolate now! haha...
Dark chocolate and a Starbucks vanilla skinny latte are my indulgence of choice! ^_^ (Doesn't the "skinny" take out all of the calories?) Your award is well-deserved, Loree!
Yes, I do believe chocolate is good for you! My favorite snack is Brookside Dark Chocolate Pomegranate. You have to try them. :-)
Congrats on the award. Love me some chocolate too. Good words about eating chocolate. I agree that it's among the important stuff to be accomplished in a day. ;)
Congratulations on your award, Loree!
And I loved all the chocolate quotes (how could I not?)~
I can't believe even Katherine Hepburn had a chocolate quote!
Victoria: Chocolate and Starbucks is something that truly goes together. I love Starbucks cappuccino brownies...yum. Thanks again for the award!
Gwen: This dark chocolate pom sounds divine! I WILL try it.
J.L.: We need that daily fix! LOL! So nice to see you, J.L.!
Beth: I adored the Katherine Hepburn quote too! What a riot!
Thanks for dropping by!
Being a chocolate-fanatic myself, I love this experiment and all the quotes on chocolate! :)
Congratulations on the award! You are the queen, I'm thinking, so it's very well deserved. Great quotes on chocolate! Suddenly I am craving it...:)
Stacy: Great to see you, Stacy. I'm looking forward to your WWI series!
Karen: Thank you, Karen. Today I feel like a queen thanks to all of you wonderful readers and commenters out there! I had fun finding the quotes. Chocolate is a great topic!
Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping in!
Ha, chocolate and Valentine's Day do seem to go together, don't they? LOVE the quotes, especially "here today...gone today." LOL
Congrats on your award!! Victoria gave me that one a while back too. :)
chocolate is awesome, just awesome! Maybe that's been my problem lately... I haven't had any chocolate in AGES! (stupid diet)
Carol: The "here today gone today" is so true...lol!
Lynda: I know all about diets. We should come up with a chocolate diet. I'm sure there is one out there already!
Thanks for popping in!
