Love Songs...

Well, it's Valentine's Day week! I want to talk about loves songs today. Before I dive in, I want to bring you up to date...

All is going well with our chocolate experiment. Hubs and I have been eating one piece of "good" dark chocolate per day since the beginning of February. I believe it does elevate your mood. I've been having my piece with my afternoon tea. I found that I've been laughing more and generally feeling good. Except for my knee, I seem to have less everyday aches and pains, and even throw less stress in there. I'm going to continue with the chocolate experiment to the end of the month.

I also haven't picked two people to pass the Queen of the Quill award on to yet. I realized this morning that I hadn't done that. I really want to take the time to think about it. I'll feature that next week. I've been so busy pounding the keyboards, and typed THE END to my WIP this morning. It felt good! Now to pass it on to my critique partners and brace for revisions.

And now...LOVE SONGS

One of the first things I do when I hear a new song is to listen to the words. There was a time (many, many moons ago) that I thought I would be a great lyricist. I have folders filled with love lyrics stuffed away in boxes. Writing a love song is like writing a one page synopsis of a romance novel. Most times the entire tale can be told in a short, yet meaningful, few verses. There can be sweet love, longing, sadness, pain, hurt, bliss, separation, sheer happiness and joy - in other words - heart wrenching and heart pounding words of love.

There are many love songs that are dear to my heart that come from all over the music spectrum - Rock, Country, Christian, Musicals, Movie Soundtracks, R & B, and so on. Far too many to list.

But, one of my all time favorites is from the movie, Titanic - My Heart Will Go On - written by Will Jennings/James Horner, and sung by one of the greatest love song singers ever - Celine Dion. It's a story of true eternal love. I still get chills when I hear the opening Irish sounding flutes...

If you haven't heard that song lately, take a listen below on the YouTube video posted at the bottom of this post. Yes, I got the chills again...

I know that Valentine's Day seems to be promoted more for the romantically linked hearts, but I believe Valentine's Day is for EVERYONE who has love in their heart. I wish EVERYONE a Happy Valentine's Day! Let your love radiate!

What's your favorite love song? What love song has touched your heart?

Between you, me and the gatepost,

My Heart Will Go On

Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you,
That is how I know you, go on

Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you, go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go 'til we're gone

Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on

Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

You're here, there's nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on

Words and Music by Will Jennings and James Horner

Congratulations on finishing your WIP, Loree. Yay! I have too many Love Song favorites to pick just one, but you've inspired me to pull out some old cassette tapes this evening and reminisce...after I stop procrastinating my wip...This was a nice break, though. :)

I know I already congratulated you on completing your manuscript, but that is no small feat, so...Congratulations again, Loree!!

Although I'm not usually a country music fan, my favorite love song is "How Do I Live Without You?" by LeAnn Rimes - it gets me every time!

Congrats on finishing the WIP! As far as love songs go, I have a handful of favorites. Off the top of my head, though, I'd have to say "I Will Be Here" by Stephen Curtis Chapman ranks pretty high among them.

Have a great week! :)

Congrats on finishing your WIP, Loree! I love Celine Dion, too. I can't pin down a favorite love song, but anything by the band Journey will be at the top of my list!

Sandra: Even though that song (My Heart Will Go On) was played to death when it was a hit, I still love it. I really love the words. I haven't heard it in quite some time. It was refreshing.

Victoria: Yeah, another one done. It feels good! I love that song, How Do I Live Without You?

Karen: I Will Be Here - another great song.

Julie: Thanks! So nice to see you!

Brandi: Celine can belt out those love songs. I just picked the favorite song randomly - it's still a goody.

Trout: Wow! I haven't heard that song in years. Another goody! Great lyrics! Yeah, this is my 5th "completed" full length historical manuscript. I'm happy.

Thanks for stopping by!

Great song! One of my favorites is "Angel Eyes" by the Jeff Healey Band. Hubby sang it for me in our pre-married days. :-)

"My Heart Will Go On" is such a beautiful song, Loree. Love your chocolate experiment, btw! I hope your knee heals soon.

Hi Loree -

I love the Whitney Houston song, "I Will Always Love You." An older one, "More Than The Greatest Love," is another favorite. It's the song I heard growing up at virtually every family wedding (with the same relative singing it).

My late hubby and I chose, "Cherish The Treasure," by Steve Green.

Thanks for the shout-out. I'm looking forward to visiting here with you and your readers.

Susan :)

Gwen: So precious. Great song! Give hubby a nudge to sing it to you again!

Kathy: Great to have you here, Kathy! The chocolate experiment is going great. I do feel happier...a bit more jolly. I have to watch it because I noticed that I can get a headache if I consume too much with caffeine.

Susan: I look forward to having you here!!

Nas: Thanks for stopping in and chiming in! I'm a sucker for love songs too!

Misha: I hope your Valentine's Day was great!

Thanks for popping in!
