This week, I will be heading to Indianapolis for the ACFW Conference. I'm excited and nervous all in the same turn. This is my first ACFW conference. I'm prepared - business cards, one sheets, proposals, sample chapters, etc.
I will be pitching my work to editors. Yep, my first time doing that too.
One thing that I'm really looking forward to is meeting Mary Sue Seymour. I'm thrilled to finally meet her in person after nearly two years of connecting mainly online through emails. She is a real gem, and this is one meeting I'm over the moon about.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Have you been to a big writer's conference? Care to share your experience? Have you been to the ACFW Conference? If so, do you have any advice for a first-timer? Any good pitching advice?
I would love to hear from you!
AND NOW, DRAWN AT RANDOM, THE WINNER OF MELISSA TAGG'S DEBUT NOVEL, MADE TO LAST, IS....
JASMINE A!!!!
Congrats, Jasmine!
I will be getting a hold of you for your address, so Melissa can send you the book.
Have a great week!
Between you, me and the gatepost,
Loree

Loree, I'm excited for you! Nope, I've never been to the ACFW or any other writing conference, so unfortunately I won't be able to give you advice. Okay, this is redundant, but I'll say it anyway. Trust God, and have fun. :-) If it's His will for you to land an editor through ACFW, it will happen.
Congrats to Jasmine!
Loree, I love that scripture - it's such an encouragement! Excited that you get to go to the ACFW conference! Will pray that you have a good and productive time! :)
Congrats, Jasmine! Hope you enjoy the book. :)
Loree, my advice for the conference is to come find me so I can give you a hug. Haha! But seriously...this will be my fourth ACFW Conference. I love it! Earlier today I read Julie Jarnagin's post about the conference and she talked about being yourself. I think that's just some of the best advice ever. For me, it's so tempting to look around and compare myself to everyone else and wish I was as cool as so-and-so. But at the end of the day, I am at my most peaceful, joyful and hopeful when I'm just...me...not trying to live up to anyone else or be cool. Haha!
Can't wait to meet you!
So jealous and so excited for you!!!! How cool that you finally get to meet your agent!! Take pictures and share what it all means to you when you return, ok??
Can't wait to see you there!
And thanks, Melissa. :)
Can't wait to see you there, Loree! It's so big it's easy to miss one another so you'll have to send me a tweet so we can meet up!
It's gonna be so much fun!
Enjoy the conference, Loree!

How awesome you get to go to the conference! I've never gone to that one, but I love going to SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators) retreats and conferences. SO valuable and worth it. Have FUN!!
