Snowless...

Happy Monday!

I want to start off this post by thanking everyone who stopped by and read last week's post, and/or left a comment. You helped make The Seymour Agency Blog Hop - THE CALL - a real success. THANK YOU!

We do have a winner of the $25 dollar Starbucks gift card, and a little extra special something from me. Drawn at random, the winner is: Victoria Lindstrom! Congratulations Victoria! Double WOOT for you! I'll get in touch with you this week for an address to send over your prize.

Well, it's nearly mid-January and we haven't chatted about the weather. I've got to declare, we've had some weirdly warm weather here in the Great Lakes region last week. It actually hit 61 degrees here in Northwest Indiana. I saw my first Robin of the year. I didn't know if it had just arrived, or never left. Another telltale sign of an early spring is that my daffodils are starting to poke up out of the ground on the south side of my house. I think this is the earliest I've seen them pop up. We might just cruise into spring in a blink. Eric and I also saw a few flocks of Canadian Geese flying north in V formation - awesome sight!

Our winter has been so unusually mild and snowless here. We've had a few dustings of the white stuff, but as the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday - "Wednesday was the 320th consecutive day without an inch of snowfall in Chicago, besting a stretch of 319 days that ended 73 years ago, in January 1940."

Snowless in Chicago? What's going on? That's really strange for the Chicagoland area. We've been noted for some of the harshest winters around.

We'll probably make up for it with a February blizzard. Ha!

Has the winter weather been normal in you area? Have any weird winter weather recently? Seeing any signs of an early spring yet?

I want to offer a big CONGRATS to Susan J. Reinhardt. She got a agent and a book deal! Woo Hoo! Doing the Snoopy dance with you, Susan!

Between you, me and the gatepost,

Loree

We're in the south but January is always cold. In the 30's and such. Not necessarily snow, but it's been in the high sixties. Except yesterday was feeling cold, but Saturday even in the cloudy/drizzle, I went out for a wonderful walk. Nuts.

Congrats to Susan! I saw that on fb!

We had amazing Spring weather up here in Canada over the weekend. I actually have dandelions up in the lawn, flies in the house, and yes, geese flying over! Love it...except don't want the fruit trees to blossom too early and then get killed off by a cold snap like last year!

It's been frigid here in Colorado -- and I woke to snow this morning. Not enough to delay or cancel school for my daughter, but it's still pretty.

We are at such a low elevation that we rarely receive an accumulation of snow. However, yesterday we did see a slight flurry. I'm so excited about winning your contest - thanks so much!!!

We had some really pretty snow around Christmas, but nothing since. And I have to be honest, the practical side of me is so not sad about that. Last winter was one the most mild ever and it was so...easy. :) But then the sentimental Iowan in me hopes for at least one more batch of pretty white snow. :)

Congrats to Susan!

Well, the temps took a dip last night and we are back in winter, but still snowless. It's 16 degrees outside.

Today seems like a good movie day.

Jess, Sandra, Beth, Victoria, and Melissa - thanks for stopping in and sharing!

We've had both winter and spring-like weather here near Louisville, KY. It hit a high of 67 over the weekend, which as nice as it seemed, just felt wrong for January! We've also had lows in the teens some nights and about 4 or 5 inches of total snow. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the winter plays out.

Super excited for Susan as well!

We don't have normal weather anymore in southern IL. Shorts on Saturday, longjohns yesterday!

Congrats to Susan--yippeeeeee!

I'm not sure if it's been an exceptionally warm winter for everyone, but down here in Georgia, we've had four days of 80 degree weather! This is counting humidity. I've heard that it's usually 40 degrees this time of year.

It's freezing here today, but no snow. It's probably for the best. It turns to muddy mush here too fast.

Hey Loree!

Wow, looks like we're missing a mild winter! Mostly rain here in our rustic German city.

Hi, Loree,
Congrats to the winner of your competition. Well, we don't have snow in these parts, but it has been cooler over the past few months.

Karen, Jeanette, Brandie, Julie, Melanie, J.L., Thanks for popping in!

Sounds like winter is just weird everywhere!

Karen: that kind of weather does feel wrong for January.

Jeanette: LOL - "Shorts on Saturday, longjohns yesterday!"

Brandi: 80 degrees sounds great!

Melanie: miss you! Yes you are missing a mild winter!

JL: I know you live in a beautiful paradise - I'm so jealous.

Hey Loree! No snow in Chicago is weird. I've lived in Texas so long, that a snowless winter is not eybrow-raising, to me anyway. But Kentucky usually does get a good snow and freezing, and we haven't had that yet. Still hoping though. I want Micah to get to play in the snow at least once. :-)

Sounds like our winter here in Utah last year. But this year, we've made up for it with lots of snow and below freezing temps almost every day this month! I'm ready for a thaw. :)

Our winter lasted a bit longer than usual, but that's good, because we have dry summers.

:-)

We've had very warm weather as well, but that's changing next week. I hope all the flower bulbs coming up won't die.
